This is an instruction about how to upgrade the old EZUSB.sys to the new CyUSB3.sys for our SM series spectrometers (except for SM301/SM301-EX).
The old SM32Pro software with the EZUSB.sys should be uninstalled completely, and the new version with the CyUSB3.sys should be installed. The SM32Pro with CyUSB3.sys is linked below.
SM32Pro v2.34.42 with new CyUSB3.sys - Software - Spectral Products
Currently, the SMProMX with CyUSB3.sys is not available, but the new version will be released soon.
Please follow the procedure below for the driver upgrade.
1. Connect your unit to your computer and open the device manager.
2. Browse the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" in the device manager and find the driver for the unit (usually, "SP SM...").
3. Click your mouse's right button on it and click the "Uninstall Device".
4. On the pop-up window (ref., the picture above), check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click the "Uninstall" button.
5. Once the driver was uninstalled, unplug the unit and repeat the #1-#4 process until you see the "SP USB driver (with exclamation mark)" under the "Other devices" as follows. Some computers may need to repeat this process a few times.
6. Unplug the unit, download the link below, unzip it, run the "DriverInstall.bat" file as administrator, and complete the installation process.

7. Replug the unit, open the device manager, find the SP driver, click your mouse's right button, select the properties, click the "Driver" tab on the pop-up window, click the "Driver Detail" button, and check if the unit was properly recognized as "cyusb3.sys".
8. Some computers may not recognize the driver as "cyusb3.sys" at once and still show the "SP USB driver (with exclamation mark)" under the "Other devices". In this case, click the right mouse button on it, click "Uninstall Device", check "Delete the driver software for this device" in the pop-up window, and click the "Uninstall" button. Then, reinstall the CyUSB3.sys file (ref., #6) and verify the driver (ref., #7).
